Because I was on High Sierra 10.13.6 I found that I needed to update my driver and software.
Click here to access the PRO-100 Drivers & Software page. Select the operating system and version of your computer (see example below). Expand the Drivers section, if necessary, by clicking the red triangle. Lick on ZPRO-100 series Mini Master Setup. The PRO-1 ships with a full set of cartridges. When installing the ink tanks in the PRO-1 for the first time, part of the ink from the first set of cartridges is used for priming the printer. The number of sheets that can be printed with the first tank is less than succeeding cartridges.
I assume by that, that you were able to download and install the appropriate printer driver from Canon that supports the version of macOS High Sierra running on your iMac ... correct?

If so, then it may be possible that Canon either removed some printer features of did not fully implement them with this particular driver.
Some thing you can try is to fully reset the printer system on your Mac to see if this can help.
